Questions & Answers

How parcel2bd works

Sending, carrying, paying, and crossing the border — the questions senders and travellers ask us most, answered plainly.

The basics

What parcel2bd is, and what it is not.

What is parcel2bd?

parcel2bd is a crowdshipping marketplace for the Bangladesh ↔ Sweden route. Senders post the parcel they need carried, travellers post the flight and the spare luggage space they have, and the two sides find each other and arrange the carriage between themselves.

Does parcel2bd carry my parcel?

No. We are a neutral venue where senders and travellers meet. parcel2bd never transports, collects, packs, inspects or delivers a parcel, and is not a courier, freight forwarder or agent for either side. The carriage agreement is made directly between the sender and the traveller.

Do I need an account?

Browsing is open to everyone — you can search trips and parcel requests without signing up. You need an account to post a trip or a request, to message someone, and to verify your identity.

How do I sign in?

Two ways, both ending in the same account: a one-time code sent to your e-mail address, or Sign in with Google. Your e-mail address is your login identity, so it cannot be changed later. A phone number is optional contact detail you can add or edit on your profile at any time.

What does parcel2bd cost?

Nothing. Posting a trip, posting a parcel request, browsing and messaging are all free, and we take no commission on what a sender pays a traveller.

Sending a parcel

From posting a request to handing the parcel over.

How do I send a parcel?

Five steps, start to finish:

  • Post your parcel on the Send Package page — pick-up and delivery addresses, category, weight, a description and photos.
  • Matching trips appear next to the form, and you get a notification whenever a new trip fits your route, dates and weight.
  • Message the traveller you like and agree the details: handover place and time, delivery in the destination country, and what you will pay.
  • Meet the traveller and hand over the parcel, unsealed, so they can see what they are carrying.
  • Once the parcel is delivered, mark your request as completed under My Posts.

How do I find a traveller?

Three ways, and they work together. Matching trips are suggested beside your request as soon as you post it; you can search all active trips yourself by route and date; and we notify you when a newly posted trip matches one of your open requests.

Should I add photos of the parcel?

Yes. Travellers are far more likely to accept a request when they can see exactly what they would be carrying, and it sets expectations before you meet. Photos are attached to the request and visible to anyone browsing it.

How does the handover work?

You and the traveller arrange it directly in chat — there is no parcel2bd depot or drop-off point. Always hand the parcel over open and unsealed, and let the traveller inspect the contents. A traveller who is asked to carry something sealed or undeclared is entitled to refuse, and should.

Can I edit or cancel a request after posting it?

Yes. Every trip and request you have posted is listed under My Posts, where you can edit the details, mark it completed, or cancel it.

Travelling and carrying

Offering your spare luggage space, and picking parcels up.

How do I offer space on my flight?

Post your trip with the route, the flight date, how many kilos you can spare, and a note for senders about what you will and will not carry. Matching parcel requests are shown next to the form, and senders on your route can message you directly.

How do I pick the parcel up?

Agree a place and time with the sender in chat, then, before you accept the parcel:

  • Open it and check the contents against what the request described.
  • Weigh it, so it fits both your posted capacity and your airline allowance.
  • Confirm who you are meeting, and refuse anything that was not agreed.
  • Settle when and how you will be paid before you leave with the parcel.

Do I have to accept every request I receive?

No. You choose which senders to carry for, and you can decline or stop at any point before you take the parcel. Nothing on the platform obliges you to carry anything.

What should I never agree to carry?

Anything you have not seen, anything sealed, and anything in a prohibited category. The package form shows the carrying rules for each category in each direction, because it is the receiving country's customs that decide what may enter. Those rules are general guidance, not legal advice — the person carrying the parcel through the border is the person answering for it.

How do I deliver the parcel?

You hand it to the receiver the sender named, in the destination country, at a time you both agree in chat. Keep the conversation on the platform so both of you have the arrangement in writing.

Payment

Who pays whom, when — and the part we deliberately stay out of.

How does payment happen?

Directly between the sender and the traveller. parcel2bd does not set, collect, hold or guarantee any payment, and takes no commission: there is no checkout, no wallet and no escrow on the platform. You agree an amount and a method with the other party in chat, and you settle it between yourselves.

So what should we actually agree on?

Before the parcel changes hands, put all of this in the chat so you both have a record:

  • The amount, and the currency it is paid in.
  • The method — cash at handover, bank transfer, mobile money, whatever you both trust.
  • The timing — how much at pick-up, how much on delivery.
  • Who covers customs duty, VAT or any charge at the border if one is raised.

How much should a traveller be paid?

There is no fixed rate, and we do not publish one. What people agree depends on the weight, the category, how urgent the delivery is and how much luggage allowance it uses up. Browsing recent trips and requests on your route is the quickest way to see what is normal.

What if the other person does not pay, or does not deliver?

Because the agreement is between the two of you, parcel2bd cannot process a refund, release a held payment, or rule on a dispute — we hold no money at any point. Protect yourself up front: deal with verified users, keep the whole arrangement in the platform chat, and split payment between pick-up and delivery. If someone abuses the platform, report them to us and we can restrict or remove their account.

Trust and safety

Verification, messaging, and where our responsibility ends.

How does identity verification work?

You submit a national ID, passport or driving licence with photos of the document. Our team reviews it, and once approved a verified badge appears on your trips and requests. You are notified either way, and rejected submissions can be re-submitted.

Is verification compulsory?

No, you can post and message without it. But it is the strongest signal on the platform that you are who you say you are, and many users will only deal with verified counterparts — so it is worth doing before you need it.

Are my messages private?

Conversations are private between you and the other user, and stay on the platform. Keeping them there is also in your interest: it is the record of what the two of you agreed.

Who is responsible if a parcel is lost, damaged or seized?

The sender and the traveller, between themselves. parcel2bd does not carry, inspect or insure parcels, offers no cover for loss or damage, and cannot guarantee that any parcel will be collected, carried or delivered. If a parcel matters, agree in advance what happens if it goes wrong.

Customs and prohibited items

The part that gets people into real trouble.

Who is responsible for customs and duties?

The sender and the traveller are jointly responsible for declaring the parcel truthfully and for paying any duty, VAT, tax or fee it attracts. parcel2bd is not responsible for any declaration, duty, fine, seizure or penalty — and the person physically carrying the parcel is the one customs will deal with.

What cannot be carried?

Anything the receiving country prohibits, plus anything the airline forbids in the cabin or hold. The package form shows the specific rules for each category in each direction — Bangladesh → Sweden and Sweden → Bangladesh are not the same list. Currency, gold, medicines, food and electronics are the categories that most often need a permit or a declaration.

  • Never carry a parcel whose contents you have not seen.
  • Never carry anything for someone you cannot identify.
  • Check the rules again close to the flight — allowances change.

Is the guidance on the site legally binding?

No. The category rules and prohibited-item lists are general convenience information, may be incomplete or out of date, and are not legal, customs or tax advice. Verify the current requirements with Bangladesh Customs (NBR), Swedish Customs (Tullverket) and your airline before you travel.

Account and data

Managing your profile and your posts.

Can I change my e-mail address?

No — your e-mail address is how you log in, so it is fixed to the account. Everything else on your profile, including your name, phone number and address, can be edited whenever you like.

What happens to my posts once the trip date passes?

Trips and requests stay in your My Posts list, where you can mark them completed or cancel them. Keeping your posts current is what keeps the matching suggestions useful for everyone else.

How do I delete my account or my data?

Write to us and we will handle it. What we store and why is set out in full in the privacy policy.

Still have a question?
